Motorway in Algeria

The "fastest" motorway in Algeria.

Works: Motorway

Location: Lakhdaria, Algeria

Project features: in Algeria, near Lakhdaria, ALPI placed its know-how and equipment at the disposal of the works for the motorway linking Algiers to Constantine. MIDIPLUS panels were used with the MR 250 climbing system to build the various abutments and a retaining wall 500 m long and 10 m high. Using the MECCANO modular system, 30 piers were built, each approx. 30 m high, with an external diameter of 4.5 m and an internal diameter of 3.3 m.With 3 m casting phases, the elevation proceeded using the MR 250 climbing system, complete with trailing platform on the outside and MECCANO PD climbing platform on the inside. The construction company's choice of using two sets of equipment at the same time drastically reduced construction times. For the pier heads a formwork was designed using the HEA 240 system of truss beams. The truss, weighing 30 tonnes, was moved and positioned at a height of 30 m on the pier using a system of trestles to which hydraulic tirfor winches and relative pulleys were fixed. The same handling system was also used for the removal of the formwork.
