Ospedale Civile Maggiore Verona
Large project, great safety.
Works: Ospedale Civile Maggiore
Location: Verona
Project features: the new surgical centre of Verona is housed in a building with three underground levels and 5 floors above ground. Annexed to it are the Accident and Emergency building and the Outpatients' Clinic. The works also involved the construction of the underground Service Level linked to the annexes, with a garden on the top. The main structure inside the worksite was executed as steel structure with reinforced concrete encasing. ALPI supplied MIDI wall formwork, the F4 system for columns, the TSplus system for single-sided walls and the ALPIDECK system and ALPIPROP props for slabs. The steel structure already mounted on site demanded particular technical solutions to optimise the use of the formwork: having to be completely encased in the reinforced concrete, steel beams and columns would have caused serious complications for the handling and assembly of the material. Overall the supply included 4,500 m² of ALPIDECK slab formwork and ALPIPROP props for approximately 14,000 m² to manage the weekly slab casting cycles needed to build more than 90,000 m² of surface area. Reduced construction times by cycles and schedules calculated and provided with the "works plan" by the ALPI technical department facilitated the entire works.
